Exhibits
Hollywood Entertainment Museum offers a wide variety of permanent exhibitions illustrating the achievements of the entertainment arts and the history of Hollywood. These exhibits mix original artifacts, videos, and interactive displays. Come and experience them with us!
The Stuff that Dreams are Made of A multi-screen video presentation, written and directed by Academy-Award winning filmmaker, Chuck Workman, welcomes the visitor. Images from Hollywood's glorious past, from the days of the silents to your favorite television shows of the last decade, remind us that Hollywood has always been the stuff dreams are made of.
Hollywood in Miniature One of the highlights of your introductory experience will be to walk over Hollywood as it looked in the 1940s: a one quarter inch scale model. Built into the Museum's stage floor. See Hollywood go from day to night in its glory days.
Behind the Mask One of the treasures of Hollywood Entertainment Museum is the Max Factor collection. See how Hollywood's most famous make-up artist created make-up for the stars, measuring their head and facial features with his patented "Beauty Calibrator." Other videos demonstrate the use of special effects make-up with clips ranging from Lon Chaney to Michael Jackson in Thriller.
The Studio Tour With a docent you are guided through the film making process, visiting first a prop room, filled with props from films like Addams Family Values, Forrest Gump and Ben Hur. The tour continues through a scene dock, a wardrobe department and the art director's office before you enter a real Hollywood set from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Enter the transporter room and you will be beamed up to the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise, where you can sit in Captain Picard's own chair. After passing through Fox Mulder’s chaotic office from the X-Files, you switch channels to enter the original Cheers Bar. View clips of your favorite episodes while you look at the bar's wall decorations up close and personal.
Kodak Spotlight Theatre One of the Museum's most popular attractions is the Kodak Spotlight Theatre. In it visitors can experience the making of special effects with green screen technology. Put yourself on Norm's stool at Cheers or beam yourself aboard the Enterprise and take a photograph home with you as a souvenir.
Foley Room Since the dawn of talking pictures, sound effects have been produced for the movies. The first sound effects man was named Jack Foley. Now you can post synchronize your own sound effects in our Foley facility.
X-Files Joins Cheers
and Star Trek
The “X-Files” set that served as Agent Fox Mulder’s
chaotic office on the long-running hit television series has opened as a new
attraction at Hollywood Entertainment Museum.
Fox Television made a permanent loan of the set, which was struck from the
studio’s Century City lot and transported to the Museum, where it has
been faithfully reconstructed with all of its original set dressing. “The
X-Files” ended its nine-year run on the Fox Network last spring.
Since opening in 1996, Hollywood Entertainment Museum has been the home for
the original sets of the command deck from “Star Trek” and the
centerpiece bar from “Cheers,” as part of its preservation program
of signature memorabilia from the entertainment industry.
Hollywood Entertainment Museum (7021 Hollywood Blvd.) is dedicated to celebrating
