Entertainment-On-The-Go: School Presentations and Assemblies
Entertainment-On-The-Go, the outreach component of the Education Center for the Entertainment Arts, is designed to introduce elementary, middle and high school students to the myriad of career opportunities available in the entertainment field. Suitable for the classroom, assemblies or community groups, this interactive one-hour presentation is led by an industry professional who shares his/her story, the journey, lessons learned along the way and advice for young people interested in pursing a challenging and rewarding career in the field. Also included is a series of The Los Angeles Times' trailers that give an insider’s view on jobs in the industry. Educational material is available for teachers to expand the session into a thematic unit in the classroom.
Project P.S.A.: Elementary School Program
This four-week program provides elementary school students with a taste of what it would be like to work in the world of entertainment. The session begins with a field trip to a production studio. Then, with the guidance of an industry professional and classroom teacher, students spend two weeks writing, acting and shooting their own Public Service Announcement tied to their school day curriculum (i.e. students learning about health and nutrition, created a PSA about the negative effects of eating junk food). The completed project is presented at the school to classmates, teachers and family members.
Reel Hollywood: Enrichment Courses
The purpose of this program is to provide entertainment industry-related education to youth and to introduce the variety of disciplines available on the frontlines and behind the scenes of the entertainment industry.
While learning the basics of the entertainment industry, middle and high school students are given a creative and enhanced educational experience empowering them to perform better in school and in life. Reel Hollywood is an after-school enrichment program infusing California Content Standards with entertainment arts to create a highly motivating, interactive program. Utilizing entertainment industry professionals, youth are educated and trained, thus providing career pathways to the entertainment industry and related fields.
Through creative entertainment arts courses our goal is to allow young people to deepen and demonstrate their learning by utilizing the power of media. Each course fosters a sense of teamwork, leadership and pride as students work toward completing and showcasing a final project. So along with building their resumes, students are building character. Reel Hollywood is taught at local high schools, community day schools, probation camps and community centers.

Programs
Morningside High School After-School Film Academy
Now in its fourth year, the After School Film Academy is part of a 5-year long program, which originally began at Compton High School with 30 students and is now at Morningside High School in Inglewood. This unique program is grounded in the goal of improving student achievement and graduation rates through creative enrichment and academic support. Providing meaningful activities after school, when the potential for negative activity far outweighs opportunities for positive ones, ensures our students are in a safe and supportive environment. Monday through Thursday, students attend entertainment arts classes in Acting, Screenwriting, Video Production and Video Editing infused with core content standards. Students also learn about a multitude of career opportunities from entertainment industry professionals and participate in fieldtrips to universities, museums and production studios. Upon completion of the program, students earn elective credits toward graduation, a cash award for exemplary performance and a program certificate.
